Friday: Texas Brahmas 3 @ El Paso Rhinos 1 – It’s that time of year again Rhinos Fans! Hockey season begins in earnest as the Texas Brahmas pay a visit to Rhino Country for our NA3 team’s first series of the season! Brahmas bring the heat in the first period as Nikolai Meshkantsov earns the first goal of the night. Rhinos are kept at bay for the remainder of the period and the entirety of the second, allowing the Brahmas to hold on to a 1-0 lead deep into the game. As we begin the third period Joseph Crowley gives the Brahmas their secon goal of the night, followed a few minutes later by Kayden Jones to make the game 3-0 with just under 13 minutes to go in regulation time. Rhinos aren’t completely out of the game though as Jake Bamback took a goal with just under two minutes to go, ensuring that the Brahmas wouldn’t go away from Game 1 unscathed. Brahmas take Game #1 with a final score of 3-1 over the Rhinos.
Saturday: Texas Brahmas 4 @ El Paso Rhinos 1 – Rhinos & Brahmas are back on the ice for Game #2 today as the three game series heats up! Rhinos are first on the board tonight as Donovan Bradford snags a goal, making it 1-0 with RHinos out in front at the end of the first period. The Brahmas’ Meshkantsov wouldn’t take this sitting down though, tying up the game at 1-1 early in the second period followed up by Chase Forry to steal a 2-1 lead. Headed in to the third period the Brahmas keep their momentum rolling taking two more goals courtesy of Meshkantsov & Joseph Crowley. Brahmas come out of Game #2 on top with a 4-1 lead.
Sunday: Texas Brahmas 3 @ El Paso Rhinos 1 – With one final game on the line the Rhinos & Brahmas hit the ice for one last time. Nathan Graybill holds the Brahmas at bay for the entirety of the first period with a staunch defense, but the Brahmas’ Luke Romney is just as adamant. Neither goaltender ceded a single point in the first period and well into the second as well. It wouldn’t be until the last two minutes of the second where an opportunity to score was found by the Brahmas. Joseph Crowley puts the Brahmas on the board with a 1-0 lead just before the end of the period. Keeping up the pace the Brahmas continue to score twice more as Kayden Jones and Chase Forry earn one a piece. With these last two goals the Texas Brahmas secure a 3-0 victory and a 3-game sweep over the Rhinos in the opening series.
