Friday: El Paso Rhinos 0 @ Texas Brahmas 5 – We’re in North Richard Hills this weekend as the Brahmas welcome the Rhinos to the NYTEX Sports Centre for the first of three games. Brahmas take the early lead scoring at just 40 seconds in to the night for a 1-0 lead. The Brahmas keep the Rhinos at bay for the majority of the period and push their lead even further as Carter Kotrba gives them their second goal of the night. Zane Mazzola makes it 3-0 in the Brahmas’ favor before the first period is out. With no points being scored in the second period we move to the third where the Brahmas once again take an early period goal as Jayani Benson makes it 4-0. Finally we have Breck Buettner scoring the last goal of the night for the Brahmas. Unfortunately for the Rhinos, Brahmas take Game #1 with a 5-0 lead.
Saturday: El Paso Rhinos 1 @ Texas Brahmas 11 – Back on the ice after last nights defeat your El Paso Rhinos push onward to face the Texas Brahmas once more. Brahmas take the first goal today as Joseph Crowly seizes an opportunity for a point. Just two minutes later the Rhinos tie it up at 1-1 as Joseph Gutierrez earns our first goal of the series. Brahmas take the next two goals to make it 3-1 at just past the 8:03 mark in the first, and Crowley takes yet another deep in the period. Moving on to the second the Brahmas hold a 4-1 lead. Brahmas take two more early in the second as Mazzola earns his second followed by Tayte Lusk to set the score at 6-1. Crowley earns himself a hattrick at the end of the second and Brahmas lengthen their lead over the Rhinos to 7-1. With the final period upon us the Brahmas push their lead even further with Crowley taking his fourth goal of the night. Within the last ten minutes Brahmas took three more goals to end game #2 with a whopping 11-1 victory over the Rhinos.
Sunday: El Paso Rhinos 1 @ Texas Brahmas 3 – With one last game on the line Rhinos aim to prevent a full Brahmas sweep as the puck drops on a mid-day game. Joseph Crowley once again shows his prowess and gives the Brahmas yet another early game lead with the only goal that period. Jake Bamback would bring it back for the Rhinos in the second period to tie it up at 1-1 with just under six minutes to go, but a last minute goal by Nikolai Meshkantsov puts the Brahmas back in the lead. After a long grueling battle over the course of the series the Brahmas would take one more goal to put the pin in game #3 as Meshkantsov scores. Brahmas would take the game with a 3-1 victory, securing the series as well.
