Saturday: El Paso Rhinos 1 @ Texas Brahmas 3 – We’re out to North Richard Hills this weekend as the Rhinos head to the NYTEX Sports Centre for the first of two games against the Texas Brahmas. Brahmas would be the first on the board tonight as Joshua Reaska takes goal #1 of the game. Rhinos head in to the second period to try and make up the defecit but the Brahmas’ Caden Michael increases their lead to 2-0 just two minutes in. Donovan Bradford would cut this lead in half and Rhinos would be put on the board as we approach the halfway point of the game. Unfortunately this would be the last hurrah as Reaska takes one more for the Brahmas. No more scoring for the rest of the game resulted in the Brahmas’ 3-1 victory put in the books, taking the first game of the weekend.
Sunday: El Paso Rhinos 4 @ Texas Brahmas 6 – Rhinos & Brahmas return to the ice today for a mid-day game to round out the weekend. Brahmas take the early lead with two goals from Aleksandrs Jelisejevs and Nicholas Catalano in an aggressive push. This 2-0 lead wouldn’t last forever though as the Rhinos, eyeing for revenge from last night, bring it back with two goals of our own thanks to Bradford and now Carter Tulpin, in the final five minutes. With the buzzer sounding on the first period we got a 2-2 tie moving in to the second. Brahmas take 2 more through the second period (Xavier Othon, Aidan Liebold) and make it 4-2. After one final break the Rhinos ready their sticks for one last offensive spurt. John Scharf makes it 5-2 just before the Rhinos’ Huero Rivera to make it 5-3. This goal would reignite El Paso’s spirit and Rivera would go on to take yet another goal, slowly catching up to the Brahmas. However the Brahmas defense held completely strong and kept their lead til the last second, where Reaska took one last goal. Rhinos fall to the Brahmas 6-4 in the last game of the weekend.
