Friday: El Paso Rhinos 4 @ Texas RoadRunners 1 – Rhinos hit the road this week for College Station where the Texas RoadRunners are hosting a 3-game series Jake Sherry starts us off this season with the first goal of the night at just 2:29 into the period. Ryan Piekarski holds the RoadRunners at bay and plays wonderful defense, sending us into the second period with a 1-0 lead. Rocco Romita takes two for the Rhinos this period with two goals early on and late into the period. RoadRunners manage to sneak in one goal before the period is out and we head in to the third with the Rhinos up 3-1. Just when the game looked like it was over, Mackenzie Bolger takes a last second goal to put the Rhinos ahead 4-1, taking Game #1.
Saturday: El Paso Rhinos 2 @ Texas RoadRunners 3 – The weekend is in full swing as we begin game #2 here in College Station. Former Rhino player Noah Easterson takes first blood tonight with a goal for the RoadRunners at 1:27. RoadRunners extend the lead to 2-0 as Brandon Wicker puts them square in the lead. Unfortunately Rhinos were unable to break through Roadrunner defense as we move into the second period. Zach Ware puts the Rhinos on the board early into the second followed by Trevor Stenglein to tie up the game at 2-2 at the end of the period. Ultimately it would be the RoadRunners to wrap up this game with one last goal at the 16:50 mark to end the game at a 3-2 win.
Sunday: El Paso Rhinos 3 @ Texas RoadRunners 1 – With one more game on the line to take the series both Rhinos & RoadRunners return to the ice one last time this weekend. The early game goes to the Rhinos as Trevor Stenglein breaks through RoadRunners defense for a 1-0 lead uncontested in the first. RoadRunners decide not to let the game go scoreless though as they tie up the game at 1-1 with their first goal of the night deep in to the second period. Rhinos unwilling to give up the lead answer back with one more goal of their own and we head in to the third period with a 2-1 lead. Stenglein manages to score one final goal in the closing minute of the match and Rhinos would take this series with a 3-1 victory in Game #3.
